Bright Nights in Stanley Park

What: Vancouver's popular family-friendly Christmas train attraction has now been cancelled for 2020.

Here's what they were planning this year: Marking its 23rd year in 2020, locals are breathing a sigh of Christmas relief that one of the city's favourite festive traditions is back, despite this year's covid-related challenges. The team is promising a somewhat scaled-down approach this time around, which means there won't be any huge displays of shimmering lights to walk around in the plaza area. Instead, all the decorating efforts have been focused on the train ride itself and that's where you'll see all the twinkling illuminations and many of your favourite nostalgic displays. Social-distancing rules mean that the number of train seats and departures will be limited in 2020, so this is the year to book your time-specific tickets as far in advance as possible. (There will be no tickets available onsite on the day, so booking ahead is the only way to visit). As ever, make sure you wrap up warmly for this attraction, but keep in mind that there are food and beverage trucks on site if you need to warm-up and/or refuel. And don't forget that this is still a hugely important fundraiser for the BC Professional Firefighters Burn Fund: cash donations will be accepted onsite.
