What (Information from 2023): Take a break from the tumult of the festive season at this brilliant solo show by celebrated Vancouver-based artist Rebecca Bair. Renowned for her interdisciplinary creative approaches (particularly photography), Bair's new show profiles her recent work on expanding the possibilities of representation––upending how Blackness is often (mis)represented and honouring the complex experiences of people of African descent. It's a fascinating exhibition and we recommended joining Bair's artist tour (2pm, December 9) for lots of additional insights. There are some other special events to consider as well: Hot Chocolate Nights (5pm to 6pm, December 15 and 22), where you can check out the show then stroll the nearby Lights at Lafarge; and Family Days (11:30am and 2pm, December 16), which includes an exhibition tour and art activities for all (registration required). Keep in the mind that the show and all its extra events are free to attend.
