What (from 2022): One of Vancouver's favourite festive shows, the beloved East Van Panto is back on stage at the historic York Theatre this year––and celebrating its 10th anniversary! Jam-packed with music and jokes, this brilliant, family-friendly version of The Little Mermaid fuses high-energy panto traditions with lots of local references to create a whip-smart, highly original production. The story? When Ariel is busking with her girl band at New Brighton Beach, she falls in love with a teenage mer-person. Diving into an underwater adventure, she later makes a questionable deal with a devilish octopus named Ursula, fights off evil electric eels with her trash crab BFF, Sebastian, and even has to help save the ocean from a mysterious purple slime of despair. There are two ways to experience this year's show: in-person at the theatre or from the comfort of your home via online viewing. Coming to the theatre?
