A Christmas Carol
What: In place of Metro's annual pantomime, this year's festive production brings the beloved Charles Dickens Christmas classic to this hidden gem Vancouver theatre. But despite a valiant attempt to stage a live, in-person show in 2020, provincial health orders have meant a late-breaking switch to an online-only performance––which means even more people will have the opportunity to view the show and support the Metro at the same time. Think you know how the story of Scrooge plays out? There's an intriguing twist in this version, with the actors presenting the show as if it's a live 1940s radio broadcast. Written for the stage by Erik Gow, this innovative interpretation deploys a handful of actors plus the radio show shenanigans of live sound effects and musical tracks. Expect all your favourite Carol characters––Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, all the ghosts and more––plus a heartwarming online production that will feel toastier than a chestnut on an open fire.
